Another day in the life…

Just Another Day in Paradise

It has been a week. Then again, when isn’t it? Our usual chaos, ya know.

Over the weekend, we discovered that one of our fish tanks was rapidly killing the fish. So we saved who we could, made sure they didn’t have anything contagious on them, and relocated them to a different tank. Then on Monday, we started the process of draining, cleaning, and sterilizing said tank and all the substrate. Given the size, the best way to do this is run a drain hose out the door at the same time we run a water hose into the tank. Constant flow of water lets us flush the rocks and such. At some point, the water hose fell out of the tank and flooded the floor. Awesome.

We spent hours with the carpet shampooer sucking up tank after tank of water. Contacted a few companies about driers/dehumidifiers, but couldn’t get anyone out that night. So we rented some equipment from Home Depot and are taking care of it ourself.

Yesterday, LE decided to pull her feeding tube out while I was doing laundry. Didn’t notice for probably 30 minutes or so. She didn’t make a peep!! By the time I saw, her stoma (the hole in her belly) had shrunk too much to get the button back in. Thankfully, the g tube kits come with a little golf tee looking thing that helps keep the button straight when inserting it. I got the golf tee thing in her stoma and taped it down. Off to the ER we went! After several hours, she finally got a new button and all is right in the world again.

This kid thinks she is funny. It is a good thing she’s cute!

So. How is your week going?

Sorry, but I haven’t kept up as well as I should. It’s hard when you’re in the road as much as I am. Still no excuse.

Have the doctors figured out why LE isn’t gaining weight in her own? Why the need for the feeding tube?

    Love you guys!
    Miss you guys!

She is growing now, thankfully. The issue now is her digestive system is not functioning properly and we don’t know why yet. She has an appointment at the end of the month at the Children’s Hospital digestive clinic to see if we can get some answers. She also is having a motility study next month, where they will track how long it takes food to move through her system.

    Love you too!!

We use the tube for fluids (she does not appear to get enough fluid to remain hydrated) and to vent air from her stomach.

    Love you too!!
