As the saying goes, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In some cases, “fall” is exactly what the apple does!
My dad is visiting during a road trip he takes each year. The original plan was that he would stay for a day or two before continuing on. However, on his second night here, he tripped over our big dog. This led to a long, somewhat exciting night that resulted in an ambulance ride, three CT scans, three different stitched locations on his face, a broken jaw, and a black eye. Of course, being who he is, he didn’t stop talking the entire time. At one point, the nurse told him, “Shut up, I’m trying to stitch you up.” My kids now understand where our clumsiness comes from. And we got to keep him for a few more weeks while he heals. Incidentally, the CT scans revealed a few health issues unrelated to the fall that he was unaware of. It was a blessing in disguise, in that way.

On the flip side, he got to see just how exciting our lives really are. Kids falling left and right, bouncing off walls, and being overly dramatic. Good times! Falling apples, indeed.

Additionally, we have had a cat who started peeing on everything. After a trip to the vet, she was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and find herself on antibiotics for 10 days. Yippee!
LB had a rather successful pulmonary appointment. Some inflammation in her lungs, but not too bad. Huzzah for a good asthma action plan!
LN has started taking daily allergy meds, so hopefully he won’t look so zombified in the future. He gets very dark rings around his eyes from general allergies.
LK has started a new med after her GI appointment. She’s always had sporadic constipation issues, except for the 6 months she had c-diff, which gave her the exact opposite problem.
LE has a sleep study in a few months, hopefully we’ll figure out why she doesn’t sleep much or well. A tired kidlet with tummy troubles makes for a cranky kidlet!!
Overall, life continues. We’ve been enjoying nicer weather, unexpectedly longer visits with my dad, and general stability.
