World Prematurity Day 2022

Today is World Prematurity Day, a day to bring awareness to Prematurity.

Let’s be real here, if you follow this blog, even just skimming once in a while, you are aware.

You are aware that 1 in 10 births are premature. We’ve been “1 in 10” three times.

You are aware that premature babies can be born for a variety of reasons, from health of the mom, to health of the baby, to accidents, to “it just happened”.

You are aware that some preemies are strong enough to not need an extended hospital stay, while others may need to stay for months or more.

You are aware that every premature baby is unique, with unique challenges, accomplishments, and obstacles to overcome.

You are aware that the effects of prematurity can be seen years later.

Preemies are strong. They’ve had to fight for everything from the moment they are born, if not sooner.

We are aware everyday. Each birth was different, even though there were similarities.

Each kidlet faced different challenges, and they continue to do so.

Each kidlet is strong, tough, and miraculous.

We’ve gotten to experience prematurity first hand. We’ve got to watch our miracles overcome the odds, and blaze their own paths.

Everyday is Prematurity Awareness Day for some!
